The chimney stack had become weathered and the stone work had become porous. This was allowing rain water to penetrate the stack causing damp in the property below. To remedy the situation we removed the old render and prepped the chimney with belcast. We then applied a one coat monocouche render to the stack. This has a water proofing agent already in the mix and can be done in only one coat.
